Yesterday, we installed our new XP Pro onto our computer and windows 2003
Pro, we had been running the Beta versions which operate very well but had
cut off last week. The new install went fine, and we downloaded all files
from the Windows update site.

Now the computer keeps crashing (for no apparent reason) and sending an
error report, when the web site appears it says the problem is being
investigated.

Having read some of the posts to this newsgroup we are wondering if a clean
install would be the best option?

Thanks for your comments

Hi Allistair

What is Windows 2003 Pro? Installing over Beta versions of any MS OS isn't advisable - a 'clean' install is preferable. What is the content of the error message?

Anything in Event Viewer about these crashes? Did you uninstall the beta
products before installing the final versions (recommended)?

While it's possible a clean install would be necessary after running beta
code, the preview of Office was relatively trouble free. There's always
exceptions though...

My mistake, it should have said Office Professional Edition 2003, The Beta
version was not removed as it ran out of date (6 days too early)
The Error details are as follows

BCCode :Ie BCP1 : 00000004 BCP2 : FF8530A0 BCP3 : FF82EC78
BCP4 :0000000 OSVer :5_1_2600 SP :1_0 Product : 256_1

Thanks for the replies, a clean install will be carried out tonight.

Thanks and merry christmas

Hi Allistair

With Office 11 Beta, I would advise saving all your data files created with that version, uninstalling and then installing the updated version. After you have installed Office 2003 you might like to run 'offcln.exe' file - you may to search for it in Windows Explorer, depending in which folder you install Office into. That file will search your hard disk/partition for any remnants of previously installed versions of Office and will then give you 3 options as to want you want to do with those files. In some circumstances you can save up to 300/400 Mbs of disk space.
