Crashes when loading Project file..

Whenever I try to load my project file it crashes in a firey daze. It's
really irritating, as you can imagine.
(No matter what the codecs are) Whenever I rename the folder that the video
for my clips is in, my project will load up. (With X's over the clips.) But
whenever they're back to their original names it crashes when opening my
project.
I've tried renaming the project, tmporting the project with the X's, saving
it to a new name, again, renaming the folders back, then loading it up.. No
dice... I really need to get this done but this has put me at a stand still!
I am using clips in my collection from almost 47 video files, and importing
in each vid takes between 15-30 minutes to make clips, so I don't want to
lose them, but I don't know what to do..

Help!! Please!!

Hello,

Sounds as though you are using a file in the project that movie maker does
not like. Check out the FAQ posted in here today

Hello again,

On the off chance that I have misunderstood, if its the case that the
project is being auto loaded by MM at startup the solution is to disable
that feature, there is a small very basic program on my website called
MM-FixIt. It has two functions one of which will disable that feature so
that you can load MM without problems.

Truthfully, I am not an Instant Expert, But I know someone who is going to
have to try a LOT harder

The clips are avi. But I've been working on this project for awhile, and I
have had no problems..

I tried going to the-kellys.org it has a list of all the free things but no
link to download them...

I just tried going there again, and it said I was banned? Which is most
questionable, since I've only been there one previous time, but whatever..

Jeez, I'll never get tis fixed.

Hello,

In that case I should take the plunge and follow the steps in the FAQ I
post in here.

their digging around. It should not have happened of course, but today is
one of those days :)

Okay.. I managed to get Codec Renamer program, but that didn't help. I am
again at a loss..

Hello,

That's a bummer then. Remember to restore the names before discarding the
program.

It sounds as though you really do need to follow the advice in the FAQ I
post (It will appear again today at 1300hrs British Summer Time) If you
take the route suggested you must do so exactly as described. Deviating
could cause a complete failure causing you to go right back to the
beginning and starting over....Its a tedious job in the first place.

Hello,

Sorry, this was meant to be added to the end of my previous.

I once had a project that would crash every time I tried to compile it. I
tried tweaking little things but to no avail. After wasting a lot of time
and effort id followed a procedure some call a Binary Tree, basically
Divide the project in two. Try compiling each project separately. (If both
fail you have more than one issue) Assuming only one fails. Split that
project into two and then try to separately compile each...spit the one
that fails....etc

Even for very large files you can track the problem easily (if you don't
die from boredom in the meantime) Eventually you will end up with a very
small project containing one or two clips/stills and one of those will be
the trouble maker....once you know which one you can return to the original
project and edit it as necessary. It was this method that revealed two
problems for me...different projects. One was a JPeg image simply refused
to be compiled...changing it to a BMP solved that. The second turned out to
be a title!!! it had just one character in it...a space I had not deleted
it in the main project after deciding to take a different route in that
project
