Brad
Please bear with me, this could get kind of lengthy.
Recently I had a DC completely crash. Didn't see it coming
so it wasn't demoted. For a time I wasn't too concerned
about it and just left AD as is. After about a week or so
I deleted the computer account associated with the old DC,
now I'm running into problems. When I go into the ntdsutil
and metadata cleanup I choose server SERVERA (that's the
old one), as I read through the lines of data I see that
I'm getting an entry for SERVERB (new server). When I go
under AD Sites and Services and check the server
properties of SERVERA I see that it is connected to
computer account SERVERB. My question is can I just create
a computer account in AD and just set the computer account
in the server properties of AD Sites and Service to this
new account then go throught the NTDSUTIL again?
Hope this makes some kind of sense.
Thanks.
