I can't begin to tell you how aggravated I am with MS Excel's propensity to
crash. I have lost somewhere between 8-10 hours of work in the last 3 weeks,
due to Excel crashing. What seems to happen is if I toggle between one
workbook and another and the Auto save kicks in during one of these toggles I
am screwed. Excel takes its time and then tells me it has stopped working
(duh) and wants to look online for a fix (it never finds) then looks busy but
never restarts.
As a single person running his own business, most of the benefits gained by
some of the new features in Office 2007 are overwhelmingly outweighed by the
lost time and despair I experience with this ovesensitivity in the program.
I have minimized the autosave to kick in only every 30 minutes, but still
manage to crash the system once or twice a week. Either we come up with a
fix or I have to look at alternatives. I have used Excel religiously for at
least the past 15 years, but I can't afford to miss deadlines because this
program can't protect itself better.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to avoid this discouraging malady
of the program, I mean other than 'Slow down'.
