I am only able to work on a moviemaker project (slide show) for a short
period then it crashes.
I have got in the habit of saving after two or three steps. At first it was
only a hard reboot that would work.
Now I can end the program with task manager but it is a creative stifle
going through this process every few minutes.
When I do get the job done I am very happy with the end result.
Any suggestions from Pappa John or others. Pappa your last instructions
worked great and I thank you.

If you are using still images maybe

I am having the same problem.

Movie Maker Hangs and I must perform an End Task. I'll keep sending the
error reports as much as I need to.

It usually happens when I am editing the timeline but it also happens when
it is just idle in the background. I sometimes tab back to it and its frozen.

I keep a very clean and updated system. It happens with minimum processes
running and no other appliccations running. I uninstalled Windows Live One
Care and Defender to see if it would help.

I tried turning off the Save Autorecover but that didn't help so now I have
it save Autorecover once every minute. I also uncheked all of the "Filters"
in the WMM Options Compatability menu.

I'm determined to finish the X-Mass Video though!

I'm having the same problem. I can't even edit previous incomplete projects.
As soon as I click on the timeline moviemaker crashes. I'm getting really
hacked off. I also can't import DV video that I captured with moviemaker.
It starts the import and then says unknown error. Any help gratefully
received.

Some users have reported problems
after installing IE7. If this applies to your
situation ...uninstalling IE7 may be worth
a try.

I've checked version numbers and I'm only on V6 of IE. I also noted
your response to another identical query elsewhere and possible
conflicts with Windows Media v11, but I'm only on v 10.

Sounds like you have read all the suggested
fixes that are posted in this newsgroup.

Apparently you have an issue specific to your
system and you'll have to continue trouble-
shooting until you discover what's causing it.

Could be resource ralated, maintenance
related, driver related, codec related....you
know your system and all we can do is guess.
