Hello Group,

Last year I made a mistake by buying a ATI Radeon 9600 SE for my
"gaming machine." I'm eating crow now. I've gotten a new motherboard
and have tried every trick in the book to get the piece of sh*t working
with my new system.

I've thrown in the towel and am now looking for a decent video
card to run castle wolfenstein and maybe some later games on
Windows 98SE.

My mother board is a Soyo P4VTE with 8xAGP. I've got about
100.00 to invest. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Don't mind the bloody spot on the wall, it's where I've been
hammering my head on it.

100 turnips won't get you much of an improvement.

Ideally you want a 9800 (NOT SE, Not 128bit), which will be around 50%
longer than your bit of string.

also you don't say what the problem is, i assume you mean you can't get your
new setup to post ?

Yes, which confirms you are a moron. Morons buy budget cards for gaming
machines. The 9600SE is truly a crap card to game on. If you had any brains
you would not of purchased it in the first place.

That aside, a Geforce 6600 or Geforce 6600GT (very good card) just about
fits in your budget (maybe a bit more)

If you wanted a Nvidia card all along why didn't you ask in a Nvidia
newsgroup. An ATI newsgroup will generally reccomend cards which are ATI
based.

when it comes to motherboards I always stick to Asus. I have the same 9600
and it works like a charm. I fried my motherboard from too much overclocking
and Asus sent me a new one in 5 days no questions asked. They didn't even
need a receipt
