Adrian C,
You may be correct on that. Someone posted a message I missed or that showed
up after mine a location of this program in Cyberlink PowerDVD 8 in a folder
I don't have in my version. So, I might humbly concede my potential error.
Also, since there are some parts of the program with similar spellings
beginning with capital letters in the same fashion, I could even more easily
stand corrected on this matter, especially since there is a poster in the
cyberlink forum who refers to CLUpdater starting when he failed to get
another cyberlink program called, "Power2Go" to work properly. The link to
which this refers is as follows:
http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/2643.page
Now, that said, I have done even further research by googling "CLUpdater"
and found the most relevant hits relating to the Craig's List widget. I
found no references to any of Cyberlink's software until 6 pages into the
Google search results which was a certification of cleanliness by McAfee
Site Advisor for Cyberlink.com.
So it seems that the assumptions that this program is either a part of a
Cyberlink program or the Craig's List widget which just happens to be named
"CLUpdater" can both be considered correct until MI-5 3/4 is able to
identify the program by verifying its location and how it loads itself.
The best way to find this out is for MI-5 3/4 to do a search on the computer
in question for "CLUpdater" or "clupdater" to see where it is located. Then
follow the proper instructions for disabling or removal of this program.
So, once again, I ask that MI-5 3/4 review my previous post to find a way
within PowerDVD to disable the "update" software. If it is another Cyberlink
program that uses this updating program, then I suggest looking for a way to
disable this program within that software in a similar way. If that is
difficult to do, go to the Cyberlink website and post a question on how to
eliminate or disable this program.
If on the other hand it is a Craig's List widget that got installed by
accident, it should easily be removed by the method I also outlined in my
previous post.

Again, I hope this helps, good luck.
