hi

on the gigabyte pro 7200 motherboard Flopps sold me a while back

i seem to be experiencing a CRACKLING type of sound from the speakers...

i tried another set of speakers on the machine and same thing happened.
these set of speaks work fine on another machine (touch wood)

so what could i do?

I have onboard sound three plugs on the motherboard
and i have also installed this add on card which has a few extras such as coaxial input or something like that

yours thoughts are welcome please

Cut the Hamsters toenails, or get them some running shoes. :)

ahhh humbug

I had them with some mash potatoes last week

nothing quite like mash and hampsters for brunch....

what shall i do next?

Did it just happen randomly? It is possible that it is a driver issue - I had cracking with some old creative labs drivers about 2 years ago. Try upgrading them and see what happens, and also check the volume levels in the system tray - try setting it to something higher and turn the volume control on the actual speaker down.

itunes 7

Are you using the latest version of itunes??? There have been many problems with it and the main one being reported by many users is crackeling from the speakers. If that is the case i would reccomend going to the apple help website and there are ways to fix it there.

hi chelsea, thanks for your reply

its so strange because sometimes they are fine sometimes they crackle.....

i dont use itunes on that machine
mainly use windows media player.

im going to try get the latest drivers
but seems like a mission and a half

It could be dry solder joints where the audio sockets are soldered to the motherboard, but I doubt it.

Unlikely to be new sound chip drivers imo as the ones that were loaded from the motherboard CD have worked fine until now (I assume).

Just out of interest, try playing some music through a set of headphones (set audio settings to 2.1 or headphones) and see if the crackling is still there.

lol
well cheers everyone

the other immediate problem is that there is no post (see my other thread)
