I have a user who is trying to reinstall software which she reports she
used to have the keys but forgot to keep them.

Does anybody know of software that can read or generate useful keys for
software that is accepted to be legitimately licensed?

Assist you in blatant theft of software, in other words.
(we're not *that* stupid)

In the immortal words of Eliza Doolittle, "Not *bloody* likely!"

I'm someone who is incredibly disorganized and often loses keys. So
far, contacting the software company has always resulted in being sent a
new key. Since you have to register most legal software to get the key,
they have a record of it. You might suggest the user do that instead of
looking for cracks.

"The Lord loves a tryer" IIRC how the old saying goes :)

By the way, this is legit. Look at my other posts and see if they
seem to be a product of someone who likes to steal.
No, requests for serial generators are /never/ legit. Tell your
friend (ya, right) to contact the vendor of the software and request a
new serial/license number. I've done this several times and have
never been denied. Of course, I don't use cracked apps either.

Two points;

1) I have been denied twice when requesting new serial/license for
products of mine. One was for a Sierra game, the other, some utility I
forget.

2) Your accusative and antagonistic language overshadows an otherwise
important point: Attempt the legit route.

Not much.

Not much.

Do you have a relative named Omar? He almost fired me a week ago, till
it turned out that he didn't have that authority.

Anyway, you're right about the serials. I'll tell my client as such.
Thanks for straightening me out, although it's better to do so without
emotion.

I was in the same boat after installing a new hard drive. Some (Nero
for instance) keep their keys in the registry. If your friend has a
backup she might be able to find them in there.

Also some companies will send a new key if she asks nicely.
