Was thinking of purchasing a new system but i want it to run optimally...I'm
a serious gamer so vid card is a must but my question is, would a amd 64
3000 winchester affect a high end vid card by slowing it? Was planning on
oc'ing the chip but i wanted to know if it would be worth it to get a ati
800xt or would this cpu be too slow for the vid card?

Tnx

The videocard is still the main thing when it comes to high gaming
performance. Like you said, the 3000 Winchester can be overclocked to very
nice values without too much trouble...

On the other hand..... If you'd get an Ati x800XL that's also a very nice
card, has all 16 pipelines, and also overclockable.

Your choice ;-)

but could someone tell me which would bottle neck the other??

That wholly depends on the game you're playing. Nevertheless, if you like
all the graphic options, you'll need one hell of a video card... Anyway..
I'm still stuck with my 9500 NP, and I can play most games nicely. The XL is
at leats twice the speed of my card, so......... ;-)

I bought an 800XL last weekend. I'm very pleased with it. Research seemed
to indicate it was the best bang for the buck. I'm using with an AMD 64
3000. Haven't overclocked yet but will be shortly.
