I am using steam and Chrome so these I need to have open but not sure which ones I can close and how I fix this physical memory use which is way to high.

My Pc is a Lenovo T510, i7, 4GB RAM, 64-bit operating system.

go to your ... start button/all programs/startup ... remove anything that is there.

Programs in start up use memory even if you don't have them running.

Done that.
Processes 108, cpu 3-11% and physical memory 43%.
Have Chrome open and 3 tabs, running steam but not football manager.

Also, managed to take away all sound

gimmi a screenshot of the taskbar, bottom right of your screen ... I have three items there, one being my AV prog anything else I'll strat up meself.

Thank you, got my sound back.

Still using loads of physical memory and 101 processes and only using chrome with 2 tabs. Any ideas on that? :)

well, I could just kick myself ... it's a bloody laptop ... no wonder you got "programs" using your memory.

How many 'hidden' programs are running down there? (click on the little up arrow/triangle)

Lol, not quite what I mean sorry. My bad for typing in a rush. :)

What I and Mucks mean is show us what else is hidden in the 'tray' (the bit with all the icons in the bottom right corner)

To do this click the triangle that points up next to the Action Centre flag. Or easier still do what I said and set it to show the all the time. You can change it back after if you wish.

It should look something like this:

A screenshot of task manager with the 'show processes from all users' box ticked too would be handy.
