something has gone seriously wrong with my Beta version of
MS Spyware remover. On starting Windows it devours 99% of
the CPU and will not allow any other applications to
operate. All I can do is use the Internet. All attempts to
remove or disable are seemingly impossible due to the
unavailability of CPU. Any ideas MS

You can kill any application or process using Task Manager. Type
Ctrl-Alt-Del.

Not with this baby you can't! Actual process is
gcasDtServ.exe and the three finger salute has no effect.
It will not allow me to get anywhere as it starts running
as soon as Windows opens and prevents any further
action ,apart from the internet.

One circumstance in which a similar symptom has been observed, is an
auto-update of definitions as the program starts.

You should, indeed, be able to kill this with task manager, but it may take
an extended period of time. If the CPU cycles are available to get to the
Internet, they should be available to run Taskmgr, and allow it to kill the
process.

You could use MSCONFIG to temporarily disable the startup entry.

You might try doing that, then see if you can get the app to update its
definitions manually--I think once the definitions are up to date, this will
go away. clearing out temporary files and Temporary Internet Files are good
ideas as part of this process.
