When I open an Internet Explorer browser window the CPU
usage goes to 99 or 100%. The browser seems to lock and
on the status bar I see "opening http:// the site. I
also notice that the status lights seem to be stuck at
one or two bars all the time. It seems I have to wait
forever for the page to come up. It usually never comes
up. I end up having to open a new browser (clearing the
cache and cookies and history first) and if that does not
work I reboot the system It seems to happen often as of
the last week or so. When I bring up the task bar I can
see the the resources are all going to IE and eventually
will free themselves up. But again the page will still
not load and I have to reload it either by hitting
refresh or the back button and re-entering the
information. I am having this trouble with IE on all
websites.

Oh,I am running Windows XP as the operating system.

I have tried all of these things (although, I was not
sure how to use lava correctly) but am still having the
same troubles with my IE and it using 100% od the CPU
usage. Any other ideas?

Do any other applications running on your system utilize that much CPU% or
is it only IE? Do you get the same behavior when no other applications are
running? There is a known issue with DHTML when adding table cells
(http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;323686) that can
cause this type of behavior. If this is not the issue that it causing the
behavior you are seeing please make sure you have IE6sp1 installed and all
the updates from Windows Update. If you have done that and are still seeing
this issue please try an uninstall of IE from Add/Remove programs and then
re-install IE6sp1 from Windows Update or www.microsoft.com
(http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;293907).
