I'm thinking of upgrading an AMD 1600+ processor with a AMD Sempron
2800. I've never just replaced the CPU in a system. I've always just
upgraded the mother board and CPU, but this MB is only a year old and
will handle the newer CPU.
My question is: Just changing the CPU won't affect the operating
system in any way will it? I can't see how it should, but I just
wanted to know what I was in for.
The system seems to be working OK. It's not getting the lock-ups and
BSOD that it was frequently getting before.
The only problem I've had is with Norton Anti-Virus and the file
CCapp.exe. Norton needed to be deleted from the system, using a
routine from Symantec and then re-installed in a certain manor. The
file CCApp.exe keeps the system from shutting down. I went in through
msconfig and turned it off in the startup and every thing works fine.
Any opinions?
Thanks Geezer
