Hi,
Can an Intel P4 2.4 , 533 Mhz bus speed CPU be used in the P4B266
motherboard which is 400mhs fsb?
If so will the performance be the same as a P4 2.4 400mhz cpu?
Many thanks
SSR

All the processors listed are FSB400. Judging by the cache,
it is possible some of these are Willemette and some are
Northwood.
There is nothing here that looks like Prescott or CeleronD.
Both of those kinds of processors use "90nm" silicon
technology. You want 0.13u or 0.18u silicon technology
(Northwood and Willemette respectively).
There is a 2.2GHz Northwood on this page ($149 OEM, no HSF):

If you want to "live on the wild side", do a search here
on the two terms "P4B266" and "533". People do use FSB533
processors, but remember - no Prescotts or anything with
90nm in the details. These will be Northwood 0.13u processors.
Likely, whatever advert you are looking at, is for a
Prescott. Northwoods are getting hard to find.

Another route, is to take a 1.8GHz/FSB400 and overclock to
FSB533. You can look here and see how overclockable they are:

I'm not certain, but if you want FSB533, and the board offers
1:1 as the lowest ratio for RAM, you'll need at least PC2100
rated RAM (or faster).
