I would like to underclock my AMD XP 2200+, specifically to reduce
temps. According to my A7N8X Deluxe (v1.4) manual the CPU voltage
range goes from 1.10v scaling up to 1.85 but mine refuses to budge
from the stock 1.65 for this processor, even though the setting is
Menu and not Auto. Am I missing something?

Nope, AFAIK that's the way all the A7N8X boards are.

You might be able to over-ride the default vcore by putting wire in the
CPU socket to trick the mobo into thinking you have a lower vcore CPU in
the socket.

IMO, as long as the CPU die temp is within 20C of the rated max for the
CPU at full load (and the system is 110% stable), I don't even worry
about it.

Cheers,
Ed

Why not just turn down the multiplier and FSB to reduce temps..
