CPU temp

Good Morning;

My motherboard supports CPU temperature monitoring, as I can check the
CPU temperture in CMOS setup. I was wondering how to do this with the
OS running? Also, what should the temperature range be for a 2.0 Ghz
intel celeron?

(Still trying to catch up with this "wonderful" new world of XP
technology, and suffering from reality shock)

The maker of your motherboard likely has a temperature monitoring utility
available. MBM5 and SpeedFan are two others.

Less than 50C under 100% CPU load is fine.

Hi

Try download the utility from the mobo manufacturer's website
For Asus mobo, the utility tool is Probe (various versions)

Thanks for the responses....

My motherboard does happen to be an ASUS, so
I downloaded and installed "Probe"..

It shows that my CPU is at 30c and the motherboard
is at 54c with about 23% of my ram in use.

Really, the mobo is hotter than the CPU. 30C/86F is
probably the ambient temp inside the case and the 54C is the
CPU.

I don't know.. I just double checked the readout, and I did not
transpose the figures......

Maybe some leads are plugged in the mobo in the wrong
places. Check your wiring diagram in the mobo manual.

BTW, Intel says that the ambient temp should be below 45C
and should be below 60C, but it is red lined at 75C on the
Intel Active Monitor. With a good heat sink and fan, you
could be below 40-45C.
