CPU Spikes?!

When ever i play games, online and offline, my CPU spikes to 100%. I have everything closed in the background and i just install a GeForce FX 5700 Ultra video card. I have a Pentium4 1.6Ghz/800, 512 SDRam. I can only think of a overheating problem, but im not to sure. Someone plz help!!!!!!!

Whenever I play a game ...

Well, what's your question? You don't think the CPU gets used when playing
the games (which you have not disclosed to us)? Of course the game will
slam the CPU because the game is probably not some 20-year old text-mode
game where you enter commands at a prompt, like "turn south, open mailbox,
take letter". The game is trying to keep the processing high so frame rate
is as high as possible along with reducing hesitation. You don't mention
what you mean by "games". Are you simply playing Solitaire (the one that
came in Windows) or are you playing something more robust, like Deus Ex,
Quake, Half-Life, and so on?
