Hi
I have just built a AMD Athlon 2000, but in the start-up BIOS it says it
is a AMD Athlon (tm) XP 1250Mhz

W98
CPU 1005 AMD Athlon 2000+(OEM) 266FSB
Soltet mainboard SLKT400-C (SKT A)

Is this correct?

Athlon XP 2000+ does not run at 2000 MHz. It runs at something less. I think
that Wcpuid is correct.

My SuSE Linux machine uptime:

My Windows XP machine uptime:
Something less...

Yes, - but set FSB to 133 in Bios it will be more correct ;-). At the moment
your CPU runs only at 12.5 x 100. This is the default setting in your Bios.
Only this setting makes it possible to start with CPU that support only 100
Mhz FSB. Set FSB to 133 Mhz and you Cpu will run at 1663 Mhz and will be
recognized at 2000+ when your system starts and shown on Bootscreen.

I'm running an Athlon XP 1800+ and it is reported as a 1,5** MHz chip,
so yours sounds a tad low to me.

Check the FSB setting on your MB, sounds like it's running at 100MHz
(200MHz effective) rather than 133MHz (266 effective) which it should be
set at for your XP 2000+.

Good Luck,
Nate

Hi
I have looked for the FSB and cannot find it, will look some more. AMIBIOS
version 3.31a
Nigel

Maybe it's a jumper on the MB. I tried downloading a manual from Soltek's
website but I think they're on vacation until Jan 26th. If you have a
manual, look in there.

You don't set the FSB directly. You're looking for the clock. It can
be called FSB, but it can also be called 'external clock', 'cpu
clock', 'fsb clock' whatever. If you find a clock set to 100MHz, it's
probably it.

It may be hidden in a submenue.
