cpu shows 100%

when i click task manager and performance it shows my
cpu at a constant 100%. it has dramatically slowed down
my computer. how can i fix this?
 
I am also having screen freeze problems related to my cpu usage. Since then I have downloaded 4 anti-virus and "ad-aware" type programs to find problems and nothing helps. WhenI play Starwarsgalaxies my screen freezes up for 20 seconds every minute and has for over a week now due to this problem. I have talked to tech support at sony and tier 2 at my internet provider and to the company that I got my comp from last month and we cant figure out anything from it

any help would be great

Do you know what program or service is running the CPU at 100%?

Start by looking at Task Manager.

For more detail, get Process Explorer (free) from
http://www.sysinternals.com/. Process Explorer will show you each
program or service running, what components each contains, and who
wrote each one.

You might be well off doing a good virus scan and spyware check. I
would start with Spybot S&D and HijackThis (both free). For complete
