CPU Retail / OWM

Can anyone help here. I bought a motherboard Memery chip and CPU on
ebay as a complete package AM2 4200 dual core processor. I was
initialy told that I would get a £5 refund due to a delay. They now
are trying to get out of it saying that it only applies to OWM (What
does this stand for?)

The CPU came in an AMD box with fan and a smaall booklet. Box is
150x130x84 mm.

No mention of OWM or Retail but has barcode strip and a label with an
OPN: number and
SN: number.

Any help please.

Guessing: Oracle Wallet Manager
If you bought it using that.
Of the various OWM acronyms, that's the only one that makes sense;
unless the package had, as an option, Optical Wavelenght Manager; which
doesn't make all that much sense either.

the if the CPU came in a AMD box with logo and AMD booklet an
certificate in it. would it still be Retail?

If you're the end-user, yes.

There is no OWM connected with computers that I'm aware of. I'm sure
they meant OEM, which you got right. OEM CPUs come as is, with no box,
heatsink, etc. A retail packaged CPU is in a box with the standard
heatsink/fan for that CPU and a small booklet. It would appear that you
have a retail CPU.

Probably a typo since W and E are next-door neighbors on the keyboard.

Hi, Larc. That's what I figured as well, but with my luck it would have
meant something and I'd get many posts informing me of my ignorance. ;-)

Look here to determine if your processor is OEM or retail:

To me eBay is a flea market. I might consider buying a used toaster
there but that's it.
