CPU overusage

I have had this hideous problem for weeks. The CPU spends much of its time
above 50% and frequently peaks out bogging everything down.

Running Process Explorer, nearly all usage is within "Deferred Procedure
Calls" and "Hardware Interrupts."

DPC gets up to 60% and HI sits around 30%. How can I troubleshoot this
further? Is it driver related? Jeez... I'm typing this sentence and the
text in the display is lagging behind : - (

No, its a GeForce FX 5900XT. Any possible relation?

Anyway I am trying out RATTV3. Hope I can figure out how to use it. Thanks
for the tips.

MTTV3 is quite an amazing utility. It can display the response time of
drivers. My problem is interpreting it. Can anyone glance at this report
and see which drivers appear to be problematic. Here is a list of what it
does:

a.. Audio and video "glitches"
a.. Problems with other devices by overly delaying the execution of other
ISRs and DPCs
a.. Interference with applications due to over use of CPU time

Anyway, here is my first run. Can anyone pick out a problem driver based on
the execution times?

Just a thought but are you running two NICs? If so try disable one, and
see if that is the cause.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for your suggestion. One wireless and one inactive but enabled
ethernet. These have been working together and unaltered for 2 years. The
processor problem is relatively recent. Did you mean disable an unused
ethernet connection?

Nick

No, there is an issue with TWO active NIC's and CPUs seen as multiple
processors. If you only have one enabled then that shouldn't be the issue.
