Hi! I had trouble with artifacts on the computer screen, so I returned the video card(ati 9800 pro) for an RMA. They sent me one, didnt work and then sent me another one. Therefore, I concluded that it might be the CPU, motherboard or ram that's not working.
I tested a friends ram on my computer and I still didn't get any signal on the monitor's screen. Could it be the cpu or the motherboard? I haven't been online for like half a year. I need advice please.
The motherboard company (ASUS) had asked me to unplug everything down to cpu, motherboard, ram and had told me to listen for a long beep which I didn't hear anything. Asus's conclusion is that my cpu is broken. Could somebody help me out? All my parts are still under warranty! They will not allow me until I figure out which is the culprit. I don't have any friends that could lend some spare parts to try them individually on my computer.
do you suppose to hear a beep from the cpu when you power up?? I never realized that for years(at least for the new computers).
specs: 2.6 ghz p4 800 fsb, asus p4p800 motherboard, corsair pc3200 ram
