Hi All
Does anyone know how to make WMP less memory/CPU hungry?
It's not that my system is lacking..........P4 2.4, a Gig
of Ram pc2700, etc etc. All I seem to get are hangs, lock-
ups etc.
Am getting to the stage where I'm considering returning
to Winamp or something, and I don't really want to do
that.
Are there any useful configurations to assist the player
and not have it seem to struggle so much all the time??
Thanks
Lindsay

You think wmp is bad? Winamp is extremely bad. It sounds like you are running into system bandwidth issues. I upgraded to a high bandwidth motherboard and even winamp plays video smoothly now. On a PIII it locks up pretty consistently, but once a dvd is playing, it works fine. Usually after a reboot

In addition, you may want to do a few things to your installation. Optimizing it for media will help a great deal. This sort of optimization does not always jive well with your other applications so consider what you are doing

See www.musicxp.net for optimizations, most of which apply to your situation. What's good for lots of audio streams is also good for video streams in most cases, excepting the obvious sound card hardware optimization. Make sure you have the latest directx, service packs, video drivers and codecs installed

thx
