{This is a repeat post. My original post disappeared somewhere.}
I noticed tonight that whenever I close MSN Messenger, my CPU occupancy as
reported by Sysmon INCREASES from 5% to 75% approx. Whenever I reopen MSN
Messenger, my CPU occupancy returns to its previous low state.
I invite people to verify my findings. I myself have replicated this
behaviour on two computers - an Athlon 1200 with 384MB and a Duron 800 with
256MB, both using different chipsets. The versions of MSN Messenger are
6.0.0602 and 6.1.0203 respectively. In both cases, the allocated memory
decreased as expected when MSN Messenger was closed.
The above behaviour was NOT observed on my Pentium 3/500 with 256MB using
MSN Messenger version 6.0.0602, the same as one of the versions above.
The OS on all 3 machines is Windows 98SE with various Windows updates
applied. I can supply more detailed system information if requested.
I have uploaded an annotated screenshot of Sysmon displaying my findings to
the following location :

What is going on? Is MSN Messenger punishing me for not using it?
