Hi,

I just started to use a new motherboard P5GDC-V deluxe.
In the bios i turned on the CPU Q-fan control (PWM, CPU-fan ratio to
auto).

Now every now and than after restarting the system (for instance
during installation of software) I get an CPU fan failure notice,
directly after the IDE scan.
After i press F1 (continue) the system starts as normal without any
more failure notices.

Anybody any idea what is going on?

Regards

Butch

Are you using the stock cooler or an aftermarket unit as the fan must have
the pwm four pin connector to work correctly

Assuming the fan IS rotating, I would suspect that it's speed of rotation is borderline with what the senser chip can detect. In that case, I wouldn't worry about it.

If the fan HAS failed, replace it.

I've had the same thing happen on an A8N-E. With either the Antec NEOPOWER
fan sensor connector to chassis fan 1 header or the fan sensor from the fan
connected to the chassis fan 1 header, I get that the fan is rotating below
threshold. All three of my fans are working just fine. The Antec manual
mentioned that this might happen and not to worry about it. My CPU and MB
temps are 34c/29c respectively while I'm 25% overclocked, so I'm not
worried. Hope this helps.

It's not uncommon. It happend onmy A7N8X Deluxe and CPU cooler. It was running at around 1830RPM, if I recall, the threshold was around 1750RPM.
