Hi there,
Does Rain support AMD Althon XP CPU? If no, any other alternatives?
I just bought a XP 2000+ and little worry about its temperature.
Many thanks
Brian
To sum up last month's thread without reopening the arguments, VCool
does support AMD Athlon XP cpu's running on VIA chipsets. (I am using
an XP1700+ TBred on Win XP Home and a KT2600A chip set.) You want VCool
1.8 beta 10a. The main download site is
http://vcool.occludo.net. Use
both coolbit switches, (coolbit and halt) but don't enable the idle
loop.) You can message me if you need more help. Users get about 7 to
10 degree C cooling with VCool. Other software coolers apparently don't
support XP and some have (falsely in my opinion) claimed that XP cannot
benefit from cooling. VCool is cool and it does work! (Software
cooling only works to the extent and while the cpu is not at 100% load,
it cools while the cpu is idle.)
