I am running xp pro, fully updated.my processor is amd athlon xp 3000,2.09ghz
..I have 512mb of ram.my question is this.when i am converting home movies
off my video camera (eg.changing file format) my cpu is running at 97 to
100%. is this normal, and how long should i let it run at these figures.
thanks in advance
alan

Yes it's perfectly normal (at least to be in the very high usage ranges)...
encoding video is very data intensive for the CPU.

hi cari.thanks for that advice.as i said before to-day,I am new to video
camera,s and i want to be sure of what i am doing.all i have to do now is
figure out all the different formats for the video files (thats a laugh)
thanks again

What keri the dork neglected to tell you is you will get significantly
better performance by investing $50 in new memory.

How? Do tell us all, how investing fifty bucks in new memory
is going to aliviate a *CPU intensive processing* chore?

I have not been following this thread but CPU is central processing unit
(i.e. the installed memory on your PC). Installing more means it have more
to use, and therefore make processing easier.

Of course, it is quite possible that the program will still use all the CPU
you give it, but that will speed things up anyway.

Are you a retard?

I have acheieved significantly greater performance with video processing by
increasing the memory. Anybody with brains would agree which explains why
you and keri can't figure it out.
