If the query was modified, I don't believe there's a record in Access of
what the previous version was. Do you have a backup copy of the database?
Yes, we do, but what I wound up doing was createing a new form via the
wizard, to test out the query. it seems that one of the query base
tables' design was modified to have an autonumber key, thereby breaking
the update capability. I found that out by seeing that the query itself
was not updatable, but when I fixed the query, the form did not follow
suit. I tried resetting the table def in the form properties, checked
all the fields, etc, to no avail. I renamed it and kept it to keep
doing the autopsy so we can understand what happened rather than just
make a new form.
we're going with the new form for now, tho... ;-)

P.S., thanks for your help and suggestion.. the backup would not have
worked, since the data table had columns added, and data entered. sigh.
its still mildly bugging me about that form, tho... but it's windows...
