"Covered" sound icon does not play when clicked.

In a 2003 PP show, there is one slide that has four text boxes, each one
overlaying the one below. On a click, text #1 fades showing the continued
text in box #2 and so forth until the 4th text box is showing. It also
fades when clicked. In the lowest order is a sound icon for an embedded
audio which the user can hear if the icon is clicked or skipped if the user
clicks outside the icon to go to the next slide. I should add that the
height of text box #4 is less than the first 3, thus allowing the sound icon
to be seen. (I apologize if this sounds confusing.)
The problem is that the sound does not play when the icon is clicked.
However, if the first 3 text boxes are shifted (new position) so that the
icon is not hidden during showing, it will play. Any one have an idea about
how to fix this?
My second question is about font size in a text box. I initially set a text
box with 18 pt text, but subsequentially reset it to 14 pt. Now, when I copy
text (from another text box or even a Word doc) and paste it into the text
box, it has a font size of 18 pt. Is there a default (18 pts) for a new text
box? If so, can I change it? I also tried to delete one of the boxes and
started over again, but it was still 18 pts.
I give up -- what an I doing wrong?
Thank you for your ideas.

I cannot repro the sound issue, if I understand you correctly it works fine
here. Are you up to date with service packs?

For the font size try this

Insert a rectangle (not a text box) and add some text (it will be 18 pt I
guess)

Change it all to 14 and right click > set autoshape defaults
