Is there anywhere I can find out what "settings" are "distinct" rather than
global for all users, e.g. things like mouse ballistics, sound card mixer
settings, icon and desktop grid size, etc. The reason I ask is because it
appears the screen resolution is global, e.g. I backed res off to 1024x768
in Guest account then logged back in as Administrator and it remained at
1024x768 and not to what the Adminstrator's res last was, e.g. 1280x1024.
I basically want the Guest account to be easy more like a kiosk with limited
number of choices on desktop and as little I can manage under the start
menu.
Is there any way of "directly" specifying a background picture in a folder
similar to the method 98SE provided. "Customize this folder" doesn't seem to
offer any means of doing this. However, I did note that folders set to have
a background pictures under 98SE display with the specified picture when
viewing the folder under XP. That impies the underlying "logic" is still
there. It also implies one can at the least edit and copy the said folders
"desktop.ini" file, editing as appropriate. That seems rather clumsy. Any
more direct means?
I'm used to basically setting some image background for every folder I
create as I find it helpfull in easily recognizing which window is which
when you have a lot of them open at once (especially as I use dual and
sometimes triple monitor setup).
