Counting items in excel that are duplicate

I have an excel spreadsheet with 3,000 records. Some of
them have duplicate information. I want to count the
duplicates and then delete the duplicate records but keep
the count. I don't want to do this by picking each item
to count as I possibly have more than 1000 items that will
need to be counted.

Help!!!
