Counting distinct data from a field on a report.

Ok, Ive looked on and off for a answer to this question for the last couple
of days. I have created a report which lists the names and the trades of
workers. In the report footer i want to be able to have a breakdown of each
trade so say 5 workers come up in the report for the inputted time frame. I
want to count how many of each trade
so it semi looks like this in the report.

name surname trade
tim mann painter
stan chip bricklayer

so in the report footer i have a text box and i want it to count how many
painters where in trade on the report... or how many bricklayers were in
trade on the report. Please someone has to know the answer to this one.

Can you do a sub report which uses the same criteria and groups / counts to
give the result you need? Then put that sub report in the report footer HTH
