TRYING TO COUNT THE NUMBER OF TIMES X APPEARS IN ONE COLUMN AND BLANK I

A B C D E F
OGC X
SRW X 14/2/2004
MTA X 14/2/2004

THAT IS IF COLUMN B HAS AN X AND COLUMN F IS BLANK THEN THE ANSWE
SHOULD BE 1. THANKS IN ADVANCE, I AM USING EXCEL 2000

THANKS THAT WORKED GREAT. NOW I HAVE ANOTHER QUESTION. WHAT IF I WANTED
TO DO MORE THAN ONE COLUMN FOR CHECKING X'S BUT STILL NEED TO FIND OUT
HOW MANY BLANK CELLS ADJACENT TO THE COLUMN WERE COUNTED. I TRIED TO
MODIFY THE SUMPRODUCT(( TO INCLUDE MORE THAN ONE COLUMN BUT THAT GAVE
ME THE INCORRECT ANSWER. CAN YOU HELP PLEASE, I'M STILL NEW AT THIS
EXCEL.

Hi
one way:
=SUMPRODUCT((((B1:B1000="X")+(C1:C1000="X")+(D1:D1000="X"))>0)*(F1:F100
0=""))
checks column B, C, D for "X"

P.S.: please turn off your CAPS lock. It is really difficult to read
and considered as shouting in NG
