Just installed catalyst and a radeon 9800 Pro.

In cs, the arrow-keys do not work as they should (even if I disable ati
hot-keys in msconfig), they function as shift.

If I disable loading the ati controlpanel, the arrow-keys work as they
should. I have tried both in Direct3D and OpenGL, but this does not help...

That's interesting, I get the same problem with Return To Castle
Wolfenstein. Be interested to hear if there's a solution.

TIA

Jon

It appears that when you load ATI control panel, you are reconfiguring your
keyboard. Disabling the control panel solves your problem with your old key
configuration, but if you want to load the control panel and run CS, another
solution is to just bind the keys in CS with ATI control panel loaded. You
could also write two different versions of config.cfg in the cstrike
directory, one with keys bound to the non-control panel configuration and
one with keys bound to the control-panel configuration. Once you enter CS,
bring down the console and enter the command exec <filename> where filename
is the name of the configuration you want to run.

I had exactly the same problem with Half life, Unreal 2, Splinter Cell,
Wolfenstein and others. I always like to set my shift key to jump but using
the arrow keys would perform the jump as well as moving in a particular
direction - very annoying!! Even more annoying was that using the arrow
keys in Unreal 2 and Splinter Cell would actually cause the game to crash.

However, completely by accident I found the solution to the problem - simply
take off the NUM LOCK before starting your game (or even within it). It's
weird but it did the trick for me!!

Maybe you guys could have a go and let me know how you get on.

David
