Counter problem

I've noticed this since Outlook Express 2000 and Outlook 2000 and it still
hasn't been fixed. When I either set up a rule for email to be moved to a
particular folder or move the email myself, the counter for that folder
always displays at least one less than the actual amount of emails in that
folder. When is Microsoft going to wake up and fix this problem? I think
seven years should have been more than the amount of time needed for this fix.
 
Which counter? Everyplace that indicates the number of messages in my Windows
mail folders is correct.

There never was an Outlook Express 2000.
But every version of OE and now Windows Mail has shown the correct count in
those user created folders for me. I don't allow Outlook to install.
 
I have set up several folders and created rules for my emails to be
distributed accordingly. Any emails left in my Inbox I move to the
appropriate folder. The counter for each folder doesn't reflect the correct
number of emails in each one. I've opened each folder and counted the emails
in it and compared that figure with the counter figure. Very seldom have
these two figures agreed. Am I missing a fix for Outlook 2003? I've noticed
the same thing with Windows Mail under Vista. Again, did I miss a fix?
