couldnt start internet explorer

Hi, i removed a Java 2 program using the add/remove program function of control panel. From then, I couldnt run the internet explorrer. I reinstall the java 2 from the internet, but still the internet explorer is not working. I downloaded internet explorer 6 from the internet, still i couldnot make it run.
What could have cause this problem, and how to fix it.

Add/Remove programs/MS/IE repair.
