For the longest time, I've been running a small workgroup
called Chaingang. Pretty much every imaginable Windows
combination has been networked together in here at one
time or another.
Some time ago, when Chaingang was down to two computers, a
desktop server named SlaveMaster and a laptop named
FreeSlave, I got married. That introduced a new desktop
to the mix and we called her LoveSlave (naturally).
LoveSlave is most uncooperative. On either SlaveMaster or
FreeSlave, an admin user can connect to the administrative
share of the other by typing something like
\\FreeSlave\c$. In fact, LoveSlave can also access either
of the other two computers in exactly this fashion.
The problem is that LoveSlave will not allow the other
computers to connect in the same way. When you type
\\LoveSlave\c$ it gives the following:
http://www.findingtheway.net\Problem.gif
Notice that there's no way to change the Username... it
just asks for a password. No password we use facilitates
access :/
Any ideas?
Details:
-All 3 machines are WinXP Pro.
-All 3 machines connect to a NetSys router.
-All 3 machines can view extranet sources (WWW, games, etc)
-All 3 machines can see one another in the Network
neighborhood
-All 3 machines have the WinXP firewall disabled.
-All 3 machines allow simple file-sharing.
-All 3 machines have identical login/password accounts.
