I have a Windows 2003 server and I have set up RAS for VPN. When I go
to the users profile and go to the dial-on tab I get Could not load the
Dial-in profile for this user because: access is denied.

Does anyone have a good idea of what is going on. I have not found any
good info either in technet or googleing.

I called tech support who fixed the problem.

Open regedit
Hkey_local_machine
Current control set
control
secure pipe servers
winreg

Right click and go to permissions and add local service and give it read
permissions.

Also make sure that local services and the read permission are inherited
by the allowed paths sub key. If not I would imagine you would need to
add it.

We are experiencing the same issues. I have a local Admin who, previou
to moving our Domain Controllers (DC) to 2003,had administration right
to his DNS zone and could access the Dial-In tab while running AD User
and Computers from his local DC. Since moving to 2003, he can onl
access the dial-in tab if he runs AD Users and Computers from
workstation and can only view, not administer, his local zone in th
DNS mmc. All permissions are the same. I don't have an answer to this
but was wondering if you have solved this riddle. I will post an answe
if and when I find one. Thanks,
Edd
