"could not load an object..." on loading PPT

"Microsoft forms. Could not load an object because it is not present
on this machine."
I just started getting this message and can't find out what is the
cause or correction. I think it may be messing up my work. PPT seems
unduly burdened with memory problems since it started (I have 4GB
RAM). It's extremely slow.
The solutions proposed on websites, such as
http://www.pptfaq.com/FAQ00749.htm
do not seem to apply to me, since they refer to a control for a
particular presentation, or at least I think they do. When I open a
presentation and hit ALT + f11, I do not see any VBA projects.
The only change I've made in the program is to install PFC Media Pro.
I had the less expensive version PFC MEdia, and both appear on the
toolbar, but PFC media does not work and causes a hangup when I try to
use it. The PFC Media support, usually excellent, is absent the last
couple of weeks. I hope he's not sick.
Any suggestions or references would be greatly appreciated.
I may uninstall PFC media Pro and see what happens.

I would try uninstalling PFCMedia from Start | Control Panel | Add-Remove
Programs. If that doesn't fix it, then I'd probably also uninstall PFCPro.
Then I'd reinstall PFCPro.

I always appreciate your advice. I did uninstall PFC Pro, rebooted.
PPT does the same thing ... the crazy microsoft forms "could not
load..." warning, even without PFC Pro uninstalled. I reinstalled it,
uninstalled. No change.

PFC Media (the cheaper version I used for a long time) does not appear
in add/remove programs, although it remains on the toolbar in PPT. I
wonder if PFC pro obliterates it the simpler version when it installs.

I'm wondering if I may have to delete all the references to both of
them wherever I can find them, and clean out their registry entries as
best I can as well.

Most of the references to this "could not load" problem suggest some
control in my presentation as the culprit. But my error message pops
up on loading, before any presentation is opened.

That's our goal and I am sorry we missed each other. My tech support tells
me you've installed an add in for creating PDFs. Is that correct? If so a
couple of questions, any chance its an Adobe add-in? And are you up to date
with any service patches or updates for it?

If that doesn't do the trick, you might want to try disabling (or
uninstalling it temporarily) it and see if PowerPoint (and our products)
return to functioning properly. I suspect that will be the case.

Hi Austin,
No, no PDF creating addins installed. I have uninstalled and
reinstalled PFC Pro with a reboot in between. I'm thinking I may need
a very clean reinstall, cleaning out registry, etc. Or (gasp!)
reinstall MS Office 2003..
Thurlowe called me at the office ... very nice of him. I'll try to
call back.
It was my fault that our communcations got messed up. We'll get it
sorted out, I'm sure.

Sounds to me as if PFC products might not be at fault, then.

You might want to disable/uninstall all add-ins and see if that alleviates
the problem. If so, you can reinstall them one at a time as necessary. What
add-ins are loaded? http://www.pptfaq.com/FAQ00655.htm will help with that,
as many add-ins that affect PPT aren't obvious.

I would imagine a clean reinstall wouldn't hurt. It sounds as if you already
realize that a clean install won't necessarily clean out your registry,
though. :-)

message on bootup, thanks to the reveal addins program you referenced.
I uninstalled PPTXtreme-edit and the message stopped. Now I'm
wondering if I should reinstall it.

I uninstalled PPTXtreme-edit and the message stopped. Now I'm
wondering if I should reinstall it.
Does anybody have any knowledge of this program?

I like the Xtreme tools very very much, but I do often have to disable
SoftShadow. It's what Austin says -- it doesn't always play nicely with my
other add-ins.

Then again, I've had similar errors with other add-ins, too. I suspect it
has to do with the order they're loaded or something. One of the drawbacks
of running lots and lots of add-ins, you know....
