OS : Windows XP Professional

I have remove I.E. with the 'Add/Remove Programs' function
by accident. How do I reinstall it?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Simon,

Internet Explorer is not removed actually, but only it's shortcuts are removed. You can still create a shortcut to IExplore.exe (which still exists in your system) and place it in the Desktop. Type IE4UINIT.EXE in Start/Run to re-create the Internet Explorer shortcut in Quick Launch and in the Start Menu.

Or, in the Add/Remove Windows components re-check the Internet Explorer box and this recreates the IE shortcuts.

I am sorry. Too brief.

The IE in the start menu is there but the IE window will not launched after
I click on it.

I have tried the second method before I posted this help but unfortunately
the IE window still does not launched.

Once again thank for the help and sorry about the previous reply.

Chee,

One quick-test to see if this is caused by browser add-ons:

1. Click Start, Run, type Control Inetcpl.cpl.
2. Click the Advanced tab.
3. Under Browsing, click to clear the Enable third-party browser extensions
(requires restart) check box.
4. Restart Internet Explorer.

This prevents any additional toolbars, BHOs from being loaded with the same
memory context as Internet Explorer. If this helps, then the problem is due
to a browser extension, which you can spot by editing the registry. Or, you
can use my utility ToolbarCop which displays all the browser add-ons
installed in the system. Using ToolbarCop to remove the unwanted Toolband,
Toolbar Icons and BHO: http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/toolbarcop.htm. If
that does not help, try IEFix tool: http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/IEFIX.htm.
This tool registers core system DLLs and repairs Internet Explorer.
