We have a Windows 2000 domain name corp.panolam.com. The
pre Windows 2000 name of this domain is panolam. We have
a host name of panolam pointing to a server that has
nothing to do with the domain, ie it is not even part of
runing windows 2000 or is it part of the domain. This
host name has been arround longer than the Windows 2000
Domain. Could this cause us any problems?

Thanks in advance,

Keith

It shouldn't cause a problem if it is not on the same subnet.
If it is on the subnet with the domain it will because if its NetBIOS name
is panolam it will cause a conflicting NetBIOS name, which is like having to
computers on the same subnet with the same IP address, one of them will be
ignored and disabled.
