Cost of laser printers

I thought the running costs of inkjets were higher than for lasers.

This afternoon I went in PC world and noticed the HP Laserjet gave
2500 copies from a cartridge that cot £50 ie 2 pence per copy.

This seems about the same as my inkjet.

Any comments?

My HP 4 Plus laserjet gives about 9,000 pages from a cartridge that I
pay $60 USD (about 40 pounds) for less than $.01 USD per page. 2 Pence
per copy works out to about $.03 USD per copy, I think.

It is important to note that there are perhaps 20 different HP Laserjet
models still turning out copies, and some of the cheap ones are more
like cheap inkjets.... small cartridges (ink or toner) to help make long
term profit from supplies rather than the equipment.

Razors are fairly cheap, but the cost of the blades per year is more
than the cost of the razor.

You don't have to replace the toner/drum assembly as often as an injet
cartridge, and if you can refill, you bring the price down (in either
case of inkjet or laser)

Nothing to do with this thread, but the other thread where you posted
( Canon Waste Tanks) seems to be closed to any more posts. So I knew
I'd find you on another thread.

I've been printing like mad on an i320 and got the waste tank full
error and could do no more printing. I opened the printer, cleaned the
pads and thought that all would be O.K. since I also searched the net
for a reset procedure. But none were specific to the i320. I was going
nuts since none of the procedures would work. Finally in desperation I
searched here ( where I used to hang out all the time since I love to
read about ink and printers ). I saw your post with a procedure which
was different than the others I tried. And it worked!
WOW! I'm so happy that little printer is back in business.
......Your procedure 1.Unplug power and USB.
2.Open door and hold power button.
3.Connect power.
4.Close door, then release power button.
You also mention "doesn't keep withou power". Not sure what you meant.
I turned the power on and off and all was still fine.

Thanks for solving this problem. I've printed some incredible photos
on that cheapo printer.

It loses the effects of that trick when you disconnect AC power,
