Corrupted XP Home Disk

I recently purchased an upgrade version of Windows XP
Home Edition and when it was nearing the end of the
installation it would bomb to a blue screen stating a bad
device. I tried the various fixes on the MS Website to
no avail. When I put in my other copy of MS XP Home, it
worked fine with the bad CDs product key. What do I need
to do to get this bad disk replaced. I have paid $100 and
would like a working copy and I refuse to pay the $35
charge for technical support on a non-working item. Any
help in this matter would be greatly appreciated!

Explain that you purchased a defective CD, and there shouldn't be any
problem getting a replacement CD shipped. But, if you purchased the Upgrade
CD at a retail establishment, it might be easier and faster to make the
exchange there. I've gotten replacement CDs within minutes at Wal-Mart.
Any reputable retail store should replace a defective CD (after all MS will
make good on it to the store).

I would do the same thing I would do if I bought any other
defective product: take it back to the place I bought it from and
exchange it for a good copy.
