Corrupted User accounts

Everytime I try to log in under my user name it says it
may be corrupted and sends me to a temp user file...I
cant access any of my saved files or settings...How do I
trouble shoot my way around it so I can access my user
account?? Is there some type of scan I can run to find
out what files are corrupted??
