corrupted pst file

I use outlook 2003 on XP professional with about 10 different pst files. One
of them does not open anymore with error message: data error (cyclic
redundancy check). Is there any known way of fixing this? I have tried to
copy/rename the file, but I don't even have access to it from windows
explorer.

Hi ParkRoadITS,
CRC errors are hard disc failures.
That means that some sectors of your hard disc is corrupt, if your pst is
lying on a defect sector you cant open it.
 
Thank both of you. I did indeed have to run checkdisk on my entire hard
drive which took several hours to complete. Following that I fixed my pst
with scanpst.
 
Please help... I have tried chkdsk.exe /f and found no errors on my drive,
and still cannot load or scanpst the .pst file... I still get the CRC error.
Even tried the Outlook RecoveryToolbox utility program... analyzes but can't
copy the file to a destination folder... error: CRC !!!

If there is disk error, how else to ferret it out? I have tried: 1 Disk
error check, 2 Scanpst repair, 3 OulookRecoveryToolbox utility. ?Any other
fix to recover the contacts and email ???
 
Hi, I ran chkdsk.exe/f, then ran inbox repair (scanpst.exe), but when it got
to repair function i hit OK and it just stopped running. any other
suggestions? thanks!
