Hello,
Somehow my inbox .pst file (999MB) got corrupted (not sure
how, one day it worked the next it didnt). (I've got
latest updates, SP, as well as Anti Virus).

When i try to load it using OutlookXP on Win2K it loads
and loads (for about 30minutes) and then appears as
something like "this file has an error use Inbox Repair
Tool to fix".

So then i try Inbox Repair Tool and it went through the
file, makes a backup, and fixes the two errors (2 items
without a folder).

However when i then try to load the repaired .pst file it
still loads and loads and then tells me the file is
corrupt and use Inbox Repair Tool

Now if i try Inbox Repair Tool it tells me there are no
errors...

Please help. I cannot bare to loose my emails.
Any replies pls CC my email.
Many thanks
Jed

Of course, you make regular backups of your PST file, correct? No? This is
exactly why you should. If the Inbox Repair Tool doesn't fix it, without a
backup, you're out of luck.

I haven't actually had the guts to try this myself but the head IT person at my previous company was constantly reminding us to clean out our .pst folder. At first we thought it was because he didn't want us to use up unnecessary HD space but then he told us the real reason.

Apparently, when a .pst file closes in on 1 GB Outlook can't read it anymore and it becomes unrecoverable. I haven't heard of a fix... he told us that prevention was the only way he knew to combat it.
This is all I know... I hope someone else has a better solution. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful!

Have you tried scanpst.exe?

Didn't you even read what the OP said? In the subject it says: "inboxrepair
doesn't help". In the body of his message, the OP says:

So, you tell me: did the OP try scanpst.exe (the Inbox Repair Tool)?
Obviously.

Don't post if you're not going to read the message to which you're replying.

Completely false. This happens at 2G, not 1G. At about 1.5G Outlook can
start slowing down when navigating through the pst and manipulating entries,
but there won't be any corruption.
