Corrupted &/or missing files Message & CD wont read XP-Hom. Disk

A window ppoped up and said I had some missing &/or corrupted files in XP-Home. I t instructed me to incert my XP-operating disk to replace or repair files. The CD would not read the disk. I am pretty certain that some of the bad files reside in the CD opp. section of HP since I cannot copy files to CD-r without using Roxio.
 
Should have read I think some of the corrupted or missing files are in XP opp. for my CD R-rw-DVD player since .....
 
I have had the same msg pop up. It occured when I played a cd and then tried to load up a cd rom. Does anyone have a solution to the problem?
