corrupted jpg files pleas help!!!

This is my story
I have made a backup to my jpeg collection on a seperate hard drive and
placed it in a safe place for safe keeping.when i took it out and tried to
restore the images from the back up it copied all the files but when i try to
read them (with any app acdsee,irfanview,photoshop,internet explorer,etc)it
wont open!!!
i can see the actual file,i can see the size of the file ,but i cannot see
the actual image when i open it using none of the above.what i do get is that
error messege that is changing from app to app and in general "no preview
available" "file is corrupted" etc...
pleas help me .

Well if nothing will open them and they're all corrupt what sort of help
would you like? Checking a backup is a mandatory step.

thank you for your help but this is a software that i have already tried but
it di'dnt help me either it is giving me an error messege "file is corrupted".
any idea i will be welcome.

Your first priority should be to determine whether the files on the
separate hard drive are corrupt or whether something happened in
the process of copying them.

I recommend attaching the drive to another computer and attempting
to directly open some of the files with an image viewing/processing
program.

If they are, in fact, corrupt on the backup drive, then you have
a very difficult problem without easy solutions, and perhaps with
no solution.

Assumming you are using an external hard drive, if your can take it from its
enclosure and mount it directly on an IDE/SATA interface, try to do so.
Else, if you can choose between USB and firewire, try firewire.
