corrupted explorer browser

everytime i open up internet explorer, it has new
favorite junk mail addresses, and the home page is a
different site. even if i delete these and change the
homepage, the next time i start the computer those same
addresses come back on.
is there a batch file or a exec file out there that has
been over ridden that is controling this?
can i modify this so i can have my computer run the way
it used to?
any help is appreciated
